Mules
5 recipes
This Field Manual holds 5 recipes in the mule family. A mule is spirit, lime and ginger beer over ice: the Moscow Mule frame with the base changed, so tequila makes a Mexican Mule and Irish whiskey a Dublin Mule.
The ginger beer does most of the work, so choose one with real heat, and keep the lime fresh. Build it in the glass and stir once. Copper mugs are traditional; if you use one, choose a mug lined with stainless steel or nickel, because lime juice is acidic and bare copper should not hold it. Ginger beer under 0.5% ABV adds nothing worth counting, so the units are the spirit's alone.
